Ann Hayward Walker
Ann Hayward Walker, President and Founder of Scientific and Environmental Associates Inc. (DBA SEA Consulting Group), has over twenty-five years of experience in all-hazards emergency management and applying science to inform credible decision making. Prior to founding SEA in 1983, she was a faculty member of the College of William and Mary, School of Marine Science (Virginia Institute of Marine Science), NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator (SSC), and worked for the Hawaii and Virginia Coastal Zone Management Programs. Her specialty has been technical coordination among all levels of public and private sector stakeholders to enhance and support timely and effective decision-making, integrating applied science, and communicating science in a lay language. Her emergency management experience was gained by managing teams of technical specialists on over 250 oil and hazardous materials spills in support of both USCG and EPA Federal On-scene Coordinators (FOSCs). She has served in all roles on over 100 exercises since 1980: table-top and full-scale, pollution, storms and terrorist, for both the public and private sectors, and she is a FEMA-certified ICS instructor for 100-700 level courses. She has supported public and private sector preparedness and response efforts nationwide, as well as overseas. Other areas of expertise include risk communications, liquefied natural gas (LNG), stakeholder engagement, and offshore oil and gas development. Ms. Walker has a BFA in Architecture and Environmental Planning and an MBA in Management.
